Ingmar Bergman and Stockholm

Join us on a walk through the streets that shaped Ingmar Bergman, Sweden's best-known film and theatre director.

Ingmar Bergman is familiar to many people. His work still moves people and sparks debate. During our walk, we hope to give you a broader picture of Bergman than his public reputation suggests.

Ingmar Bergman grew up in Stockholm as the son of the vicar of Hedvig Eleonora in Östermalm. In this relatively sheltered environment, the young man developed big ideas about art, love and God. It was here that Bergman found inspiration for almost all of his plays and films.

During the tour we stop at important places such as the Royal Dramatic Theatre (Dramaten), the Royal Opera and Mäster Olofsgården.

With support by the Ingmar Bergman Foundation.
